After market air intake, Aftermarket exhast, Lowered 3" on racing coilovers, Short shifter 5speed, Smacks booster

Just installed the Smacks booster with EIFE on Sat Aug 9,2008
testing in progress
1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe
Engine Size:1.6L SOHC Vtec
Mileage:124,546
Transmission:5-speed
love the 95 civic had 1
love the 95 civic had 1 myself---what efie did you use???
I bought it off e-bay. It
I bought it off e-bay. It claimed to be using water4gas's design using higher quality parts. It works as far as I can tell but I'm not producing enough hydrogen to really even need to use it. I'm working on a new 3 series cell this weekend. It'll have seven 3x6 inch plates in each 4"x1' tube. I should have more then enough room in the civic. I'm hoping to see at least 1.5 to 2.0 lpm, I think with that amount I should see some benifits in mpg.
After reseting the car's ecu
After reseting the car's ecu I finnaly saw an increase in mpg from 30 to 38. This was without even using the EFIE, seems the ecu will adapt and learn to some degree. I am currently running the car with the EFIE on to see if it will do anything, starting at a low setting(less then a quarter turn from factory setting).
That's good news, H
I'm glad to hear that you're making good progress! It seems like it never happens fast enough though...eh? It sounds like you're on the right track and having fun.
Keep them updates rollin' in,
Nick
Reset computer
I was just reading something Smack had written and he stated that all he had done was reset is computers also. Its good to see it worked for someone else.
i think most people forget
i think most people forget to "reset" their factory ecm/obd etc ---which most will adjust fuel mix and oxygen --with what is given them at start up
Update
I guess it's been awhile since I've posted any of my progress with the booster in my car. I guess what I found was that I would need to reset the ECU every few days to see any increase in mileage. Eventually the gains would start decreasing until I stayed consistent at about 30mpg-34mpg(which is normal for this car) I tried running it with the EFIE, and without. Shifting at different RPM's, high and low. Nothing could convince me that the booster was helping in mpg gains.
I don't think there isn't some breakthrough here that can't be accomplished. With all the electronics on a car, any number of things could be keeping the booster from doing it's job. I started thinking about what long term effects it might have on my car, and this being my daily driver, I decided to pull the booster out. Smartscarecrow had reported on his small engines seizing up due to the fact the insides would eventually rust. He was running his engines with pure HHO( no gasoline mix) but still, no need to risk my daily driver.
As a hobby/side job, I also flip cars that I buy from tow yards and finance companies that are a little beat up. Get them looking/running as good as I can and resell them. I guess what I'm thinking is getting some chepo repo that I can use for my experiments. Preferably I've been looking for a turbo diesel. After doing my research, I think this will be an idea motor to apply a booster to. If I can spend under $500 bucks, and the car blows up eventually, I guess no big deal.
Thanks for the update.
It seems as though most people have simply lost interest since the temporary reprieve at the pumps, but over the course of my lifetime, I've seen this same pattern in gas prices play out many times. First they raise the prices very high very quickly and keep them there for just a little while to let people adjust their expectations. Then they lower the prices and bounce them up and down for a while with a slower and less obvious, but more or less steady increase until they get close to, but not quite as high as they were during the original big scare. Then they will level out at that slightly lower price and nobody complains as much as the did during the first big sudden increase. I've watched it happen time and time again while the mostly complacent and apathetic public buys into the lie that it's nothing more than market forces at work.
Anyway, it's good to know that I'm not the only one around here still plugging away with my research.
I come to some definite conclusions about using HHO.
1. We're a long way from nailing down how it dynamically interacts with all the possible variables in such a way that we can predict precise outcomes for A, B and C if X, Y, and Z procedures are followed exactly to the letter.
2. Much larger, more complex and more expensive to build systems are require to be safe and efficient. Without the pre-existing supporting infrastructure, It may never be practical or cost effective in the long run for most people.
3. I honestly believe that it can be done, but without a dedicated, big budget, highly skilled team of scientists and engineers with the time, money and all the proper equipment working together toward the same goal, we may never get a true ready to go, off the shelf, reliable, "plug-n-play" system that is workable for the masses.
I'm not giving up. I'll just keep on trying different things as I get the time and money. As it stands, I have a couple of years worth of ideas to work on and test, but I'm not gonna get too excited about it as long as interest levels remain where they are now.
From everything I've read, people with turbo diesels as opposed to plain diesel engines have a harder time getting good results, but I'm not much of a real mechanic so I don't really know.
Good luck and keep on keepin' on,
Nick
I feel your pain---my lawn
I feel your pain---my lawn tractor did the same thing as scarecrow's--and yep it was all rusted up
we are years away from some kind of relief
I gave up a Smack but not on the idea
Pain relief
Volo Performance Has come up with a chip to Soft Flash the ECU and accept the HHO going in to your engine its not perfect but progress is being made on the tuning for HHO . With their Chip no Efies and mapp enhancers will be needed in your install and they gains you get will be permanent no resetting your ECU every other day. We have a thread on this subject ( Scambusters HHO ) check it out .
